Premiere Pro Ghosting Effect

One of my favorite student presentations in my New Media Development class was a refresher on Premiere Pro. This was actually a very helpful demonstration because I do not use Adobe’s video software as much as I’d like to. Applications like Illustrator and InDesign usually take up most of my time on the Macbook. However, I had the ability to implement some techniques I learned into a recap video for my latest artist reception. The “ghosting” effect creates a cool visual trick where your footage catches up with itself. The steps are as followed:

  1. Make a new copy of your video clip
  2. (Command+R) for Macbooks to open the speed/dialog box
  3. Make it 90%
  4. Change the clip opacity to 50%
  5. Add the cross dissolve effect to the beginning and end
